What's a Little Violence Between Pointless Celebrities?

No it not a question for you, nor a debate, etc. It's the title of The Pleasure Casts new album.

I'll be posting it to bandcamp on the usual page sometime in the next week or so, Xmas shopping permitting time!

I'd like to wish you all, each and everyone a safe, peaceful, happy Christmas/Holiday and a prosperous New Year.

I'll post again when tracks have been uploaded etc.

Stay warm.

The Pythons Jackpot E.P.

Hi,

Just to let you know that The Pleasure Cast fifth record of this year is finished (pretty much). Just needs mastered and uploaded!

I've given it the title of "The Pythons Jackpot E.P." which may or may not change.
It's a complete break from the norm for TPC.
The basic guitar and vox were recorded on 1 track on a Sony TCM-939 cassette recorder. Then the tape recorder was miked and the track played and subsequently recorded onto computer where synths and percussion etc were added.

It's a big step up from previous offerings with lots of unearthly sounds, not just guitar and vox and is due in part to my wife buying me a new midi keyboard for Xmas. Needless to say, she gave me my pressie early so as to get some recording done.

As I said, it has to be mastered and then uploaded, as I'm pretty happy with the rough mixes so far.

There are 7 tracks at the minute and the track titles are the same as stated in a previous post.

The EP will be available for whatever you wish to pay for it, the minimum being a big fat ZERO (or FREE as I would say)!

Thankyou for your continued support.

Regards

JV

Zoom MRS8

Oh BTW, forgot to mention, had a bit of luck on the old Ebay tonight. Got a bargain Zoom MRS8 multitracker in mint condition.
It should arrive by the end of this week and i'll waste no time in getting stuck into it straight away.

As multitrackers go, I've had a couple analogue cassette 4 tracks and a couple digital 4 tracks, this one is 8 though and has a plethora of virtual tracks available too.

It's not exactly cutting edge anymore and Zoom have in the past couple years updated their digital multitrackers with the R8, R16, and R24. All of which got very favorable reviews.

I'll get the R24 some day, but as most of my music, even on PC and Mac never uses more than 8-10 tracks, 24 would be huge overkill. Though better too many than not enough when it comes to mixdown!

I love using Daw's for some of my music, but I've been looking to go back to the buttons, faders and knobs etc of a portable recording solution. Even laptops with their audio interfaces and hdd's etc can be a hassle for me. Maybe I'm just lazy!

Anyone else out there got any tips on the MRS8?

Regards and thanks,

JV

Metawonderpuss now available on Bandcamp!

Just to let all you good folks know that my latest album under the moniker of The Pleasure Cast (the 4th so far) is now available for streaming (FREE) or download (£2.99 GBP) from Bandcamp.

It won't be available anywhere else in the near future, so it's kinda exclusive as I've found Bandcamp to be a great source to distribute my media.

The link to it is:

https://thepleasurecast.bandcamp.com/album/iv-metawonderpuss

Please enjoy and any feedback would be welcome.

Feel free to email me at judas@judasvigilante.com

You will get a reply! Promise.

It was written and recorded in 3 massive sessions, one of which yielded about 10 of the 20 tracks.

There are 2 instrumentals this time which I don't think I've done before on a Pleasure Cast album.

Enjoy and that's it for now.

Take care of yourselves,

JV

"Metawonderpuss"

Hi,

Just to let you know that the finishing "touches" have been applied to the 4th Pleasure Cast album, entitled "Metawonderpuss".

Hopefully in the next few days it should be available for download from Bandcamp at:

www.thepleasurecast.bandcamp.com

For pricing I'm thinking the usual bargain price of £2.99.

The running time for the 20 tracks is 30:39 mins and is my usual lofi accoustic stylee!

That's it for now.

Thanks and take care.

Fostex FD4 digital 4 track

Hi everyone,

I've spent this evening up in the loft of my home digging out some old recording equipment.
Mainly my Fostex FD4 digital 4 track.
It still works, mine being the one with Syquest EZflyer drive that records onto 230mb cartridges.
I've linked it up to my G5 tonight and most of the cartridges/discs I've tested still work, but not all sadly!
I recorded my first few albums on this, long before the days of affordable pc's for home recording.
I'm going back around 16 or 17 yrs now.
I bought this on the recommendation from Moosehead, a good friend who at the time worked in a Belfast music shop and is now a Mastering Engineer. (a link to his site can be found at www.judasvigilante.com in the links section (obviously!)

At the time I also bought a pair of JBL Control 1's and a Samson power amp.

Those were the days!

Some of the albums recorded on this were:

Captain Kidder 'I Oh I' and 'Ctrl Alt Del' to name just a couple.

These are available for FREE from the aforementioned website to either stream or download. Once again, I emphasize FREE!  I got very good reviews for both those albums at the time.

Well, that's it for tonight/today.

Take care.

Sunday 3 November 2013

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, one and all!

Hi everyone, As I've now reached 3 albums with this lo-fi music project (the pleasure cast),I thought I should start a blog about it! I hope to integrate this someway into my main site at www.judasvigilante.com , but until I work out how to do that, please bare with me!
Over the course of 2013 I've written, recorded and released 3 albums as The Pleasure Cast (more on where to get them in a minute!) I have a fourth finished and am aiming to get a fifth (probably a short ep done and dusted before the big guy in red and white shows up to make us all that little bit fatter!
The aim of the project was to record fairly lo-fi, the first 3 were recorded on an ipod touch, live in one go with no overdubs. The fourth was on my mobile phone (basic android handset) and the fifth which I'll start in the next few days will be a Sony TCM-939 tape recorder.
This isn't the original Sony recorder I've recorded so many Judas Vigilante albums on as it was my daughters, I gave it back to her and it has now been misplaced sadly. Though never fear, Ebay to the rescue and a replacement was sourced.
Onto where to get Pleasure Cast records. They, for the meantime, are available as digital downloads from Bandcamp.
 The address is: www.thepleasurecast.bandcamp.com

They are all priced at £2.99 each which I think is reasonable. Well, an artist gotta live somehow!
I'm aiming after Christmas to make these available on Cassette and/or Cd and/or lathe cut vinyl.

For now I'd just like to say thanks for stopping by and take care yourselves. I hope you enjoy the music and feel free to email any questions, querries etc. I'll get back to you ASAP. All the best, JV
